Opening Doors to
Hands Free Technology Response
As
technology moves forward, we begin to discover new ways to help us feel safer
in society. Crime still exists, so parents and business want to keep themselves
and their objects free from thieves. Technology has once again proved to be
useful, and crime and safety is one of the many issues that technology could
have a part in the solution.
In
everyday life, many parents have a huge burden on their shoulders with demands
that are asked from them, such as kids, work, school and even extra activities.
Technology has found a way to make small things easier for those who are in a
rush all time and local groceries stores are helping out. Opening a door can be
impossible sometimes if you have your hands full. Groceries stores have put
sensor beams on their entrance to have the double doors open automatically. This
technology uses infrared light that is invisible to the naked eye. These lights
detect motions from a few feet away that then signal the doors to open. This technology
if very useful for those who have their hand full or to when great amount of
people are entering a mega store. This works both ways inside and out, so when
you leave and have many groceries the doors open and you don’t have to worry
about putting stuff down or dropping things in the floor. Though his invention
is very useful in these situations, it is important to not let technology
handle most of your everyday activities. Technology can work like a charm when
trying to do things with ease, but it should not be used to take control of
everything in your life.
Another
way this technology helps, is in the bathroom when you flush and wash your
hands. This is the same technology as the one to automatically open doors, so
it doesn’t need you to turn a faucet on or to touch the lever to flush, all it
needs is your hand motions. This innovation is very helpful for those who are afraid
to touch dirty surfaces or for those who are always on the clock. Although
sometimes water reflects off of shining surfaces, this technology has a
specific agenda to reacting to random motions and reflections that are not
intended to turn on the faucet or toilet. It also helps with controlling water consumption,
the water only turn on for a couple of seconds, basing in on how much water you
need to wash your hands. This innovation is a wonderful idea to keep hand from
getting dirty again by turning off the faucet and that will be kept for future
generations.
In
conclusion, these innovations are extremely helpful, and are evidence that the
world is changing to manual work to technology aiding people in their everyday
lives. Though one must not let technology take over their lives completely,
technology can have defaults and malfunctions and can go south very quickly. Though
technology has taken up the world by storm, technology isn’t the solution for
everything.
